As you know Index.dat file is an index of cookies and browser history. When you use "Clear history" and "Clear Cookies" option in the Internet Explorer all cookies and history cleared, but except Index.dat. This is the main privacy problem with this file. Even if all items that Index.dat file indexing is removed from your hard disk, it still contain information about it until will be replaced with a new one records. In other words, Index.dat information just marked as "deleted" when you clear cookies or history. It will be actually deleted when you browse the Web a lot and the old info will be replaced with a new one.
Privacy is violated because user wants to remove browser tracks and he select this option in the Internet Explorer menu. However, browsing history just partially deleted and anyone can get access to it by reviewing Index.dat file. Function to remove cookies and history in the Internet Explorer is not working correctly while Index.dat information just marked as "deleted" and not actually deleted.
